What is a veneer?

Using a thin covering of porcelain called a veneer, a tooth's front can have its colour, shape, or position altered. To improve a single discoloured tooth or to brighten the front teeth, a precise porcelain hue can be selected to produce the proper tint. By covering the entire front of the tooth with a thicker segment in place of the damaged portion, a veneer can restore the appearance of an intact tooth. Additionally, veneers are advised if you have gaps in your teeth and orthodontic braces may not be an option, or if teeth whitening has not worked for you. Sometimes a veneer can be placed to align a tooth that is marginally out of alignment with the others. Veneers are more durable than bonding, offer a better aesthetic, and cost less than crowns.

Veneers can improve teeth that:

The gap between them.

Are permanently tarnished.

Have gotten chipped or worn.

Are poorly developed.

Have a tiny crookedness to them.

How long does fitting a veneer take?

At least two visits are required for a veneer at our office. the first to fit it and match the shade, and the second to prepare the tooth. We will show you the veneer on your tooth before cementing it in place to ensure your satisfaction.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic procedure used to repair gaps between teeth or discoloured teeth to improve the appearance of your teeth. Usually, it takes two or three appointments to finish applying veneers permanently. It will take two or three weeks for the veneers to be created once a mould is made of your teeth to ensure an accurate fit. Prior to the placement of the veneers, the tooth's surface is prepped by reshaping, thinning, and polishing the enamel. This process is carried out under local anaesthesia. The veneer will next be affixed to the tooth using cement and a laser beam to create a solid bond.

It would be crucial to take care of your veneers so as to avoid stains or chipping. They might endure up to 20 years with proper maintenance, possibly more.

Benefits of porcelain veneers

Although porcelain veneers can discolour like real teeth if not maintained properly, they are stain resistant.

The bulk of the tooth structure will be preserved during veneer preparation, resulting in minimal tooth remodelling and maximum impact.

Foods to avoid.

You can resume eating normally once your veneers have had time to settle. However, it's important to refrain from biting on hard items like hard candies, nuts, seeds, or popcorn, as well as hard biscuits and even ice, in order to protect your veneers.

letting go of unhealthy habits.

Because porcelain veneers are permanent and irreversible, even the slightest damage will necessitate replacing the entire veneer. Therefore, it is your responsibility to cease any unhealthy habits that could harm your teeth, such as biting your nails, chewing the end of your pen, opening packages or even bottles with your teeth, cracking nuts with your teeth, putting on and taking off gloves with your teeth, etc. You will need to wear a mouthguard to preserve the veneers if you grind your teeth while you sleep, and it is not possible to stop it.
