Dental Implants

A long-term solution to replace missing teeth is dental implants. This could be anything from placing an implant immediately after tooth extraction to replacing both the upper and lower arches (all-on-four or all-on-six).

Implant dentistry

Southern Dental Implants, which are South African, are placed at Smile Hub Dental Clinic. The same local anaesthetic we use for fillings is used to insert dental implants, which are comprised of titanium. If a patient is anxious or needs more involved care, the placement of dental implants can be done under IV anaesthesia.

Only healthy jawbone is suitable for the placement of dental implants. The bone surrounding the teeth eventually disappears when teeth are lost. It may be essential to use a bone graft to replace more bone if too much has been lost. Additionally, local anaesthetic is used for this.

We want you to feel at home when you visit our dental practise. We may go over your medical history during your initial visit and perform a comprehensive oral examination, which may include any required X-rays.

Any worries you might have regarding your dental health are welcomed and encouraged to be discussed. Any necessary treatment will be explained to you with pleasure. To give yourself enough time to do any dental work, you might need to schedule additional sessions.

We will be able to provide you with a cost estimate after the initial examination and any necessary special investigations (x-rays and/or CBCT scans). We understand completely that some people have concerns about specific components of dental procedures. We'll do our utmost to reassure you and tailor any necessary treatment.

You may be sure that you will get the best care in a laid-back and welcoming setting. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have about your dental care.

Dental Implants All on 4 and All on 6

Dental implants called All on 4 and All on 6 are only appropriate for people who have lost a lot of teeth. A complete dental bridge can be affixed once the titanium dental implants have been anchored into the upper or lower jawbone.

The name all-on-four or all-on-six refers to the fact that all of the upper or lower teeth are joined together on a single bridge and secured to the jaw by dental implants. The strength of your bone structure will determine whether you require four or six dental implants. Since the upper jaw's bone is often weaker, six implants may be necessary to secure the bridge in place. All-on-six dental implants are preferable to All-on-four since they will reinforce the hold and allow for potential implant failures; unfortunately, those with diabetes, gum disease, and smoking are more likely to experience implant failure.

Dental implant failures are uncommon since the lower jaw is significantly stronger than the upper one. Therefore, four implants will be sufficient, or in certain circumstances, just two.

All on 4 and All on 6 implants have advantages.

When implants are used, the body typically needs six months to adapt to them and integrate them. However, the temporary bridge can be installed immediately following the placement of the implants, reducing the amount of time needed for healing and adapting. This is because a bridge replaces all the missing teeth. Please don't hesitate to schedule a consultation so that we can discuss any queries or worries you may have.
